I hope it works out this time around.

Illinois just posted their ruling about obtaining a licence for Non Residents that includes the following states:

    NON-RESIDENTS requirements for IL CCW:

In accordance with 430 ILCS 66/40 (b), out of state residents may be eligible for an Illinois Concealed Carry License if your state meets the definition of substantially similar as established by rule. See 20 Il. Admin. Code 1231.10. Currently, the states identified below have been determined to have laws related to firearm ownership, possession, and carrying that are substantially similar to the requirements to obtain a license under Illinois’ law; and, therefore, may apply for an Concealed Carry License. This list will be updated as additional states are identified as substantially similar. Further Information concerning the regulations for non-resident applications can be found at 20 Il. Admin. Code 1231.110.

    Hawaii

Other requirements if your state meets the substantially similarly definition:
16 hours of Concealed Carry firearms training provided by an ISP approved Instructor.
An electronic copy of a valid concealed carry license from my home state.
Electronic Copy of my training certificate(s). You will be required to upload your electronic certificate during the application process.
A head and shoulder electronic photograph taken within the last 30 days.
    An Illinois Digital I.D.
Java will be required for all of these computer functions to work correctly. To find out if you have the current Java click on this link and then click on “verify java version” to find out if you have Java. AGAIN – YOU MUST HAVE JAVA LOADED ON YOUR PC.

Visit the Illinois Digital ID website to obtain a digital ID.

NOTE: If you have questions, visit the Illinois Digital ID website FAQ page or call the Central Management Services Help Desk at 1-800-366-8768 for assistance with the Digital ID. Questions regarding the Concealed Carry License application process should be directed to the Illinois State Police at 217-782-7980.

A Valid Driver’s License or State Identification card.
Be able to provide the last ten years of residency.
A notarized affidavit documenting the applicant’s eligibility under both state and federal laws, the understanding of the laws pertaining to possession and transport of firearms, acknowledgment the applicant is subject to the jurisdiction of the Illinois State Police and the Illinois courts and that the applicant meets the mental health standards in Illinois to obtain a firearm.

Cornyn is pulling out all the stops to keep from being challenged in the primary.

He spent millions of dollars since July of last year in radio and TV ads.

He's scared a unicorn with more money will beat him.

There is no way a "common" man can run for the Senate, where it takes millions of dollars to buy the office.

Repeal the 17th Amendment to the United States Constitution, and reclaim State's Rights in the U.S. Senate!

Didn't he introduce the same amendment to the Toomey/Manchin Bill? If I recall, it fell along party lines with crybabies from states like New York being against it. What is going to change now?

If I remember correctly, a few years ago someone checked into the situation in Hawaii and found that the state had only issued ONE carry permit. It was held, at the time, by a civilian armorer with the Honolulu PD.

Things may have changed and my memory may be faulty, so corrections are welcome. But it's still my impression that carry permits in Hawaii are statistically non-existent.

When I lived there, Oahu had two...the civilian Po-Po armorer, and...the Chief of Po-Po's sister.

    Yah, bruddah...gud...

The Big Island was a lot more open to issuing permits (according to my IPSC friends across the water), but not Oahu/Honolulu.

I hate the driver license comparison other than the fact that neither driving nor carrying should require a license at all.

Driving is significantly more regulated than guns. This also chips away even more at stages rights.

IMO, this is bad policy that lends itself to being hijacked and imposing national standards.

No way I'd carry in a state I know is just itching to find a reason to arrest me for doing so.
If this bill passes and becomes law, a lot of Texans are going to go to jail in States like Illinois, and then loose their Texas CHL.
You can't change the spirit with legislation!

If people would just follow the Constitution we wouldnt need to even worry about this. First we have the 2nd and then we have the Full Faith and Credit clause.

"Besides putting domestic violence victims in danger, the concealed carry reciprocity bills would also create potentially life threatening situations for law enforcement officers," Feinstein wrote in a letter to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) and Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.)

    HUH???? How so?

I know, I know.. why do I expect logic to all of a sudden have a place in the words of a liberal.

    FIFY.

I know some don't have much choice, or would have to choose between their job and travel, but I will not go to any of those states.

Bout the only state I would travel to is Oklahoma.

As much as I'd enjoy national reciprocity, I just can't get behind a bill like this. Think about it... we're asking the federal government to regulate something that is currently regulated by the states. Bad ju-ju...

I agree. It's a nice idea, but then the idea of the feds extending their power even further into states' rights just doesn't sit too well with me.
