Any good do diets out there? She is active as heck but her constant eating of pecans has her big as a house. I have raked the pecans but every good wind seems to provide a good starch to munch on.

Been feeding my mutt Nutro. She likes chicken and sweet potato, and currently she is loving the venison version.

^^^Ditto.^^^

If the dog has been abused in the past, it will have some trust issues, and will take some time to learn to trust you. But they do come around, and when they do learn to trust you, they will be almost glued to your side!
This is truth. We took in a rescue years ago, who would pee herself whenever I offered her a dog treat. Very sad to watch. I kept trying and remembered to keep my voice low and friendly. Now she rarely even cowers and will come get a treat with tail wagging. It took months.

I agree also. I have a Great Pyrenees that was dumped and found me. Took two years of loving before she quit squealing and running from me if I picked up a shovel or garden hose. Now she is the sweetest dog we have ever had.

GP's are fantastic dogs. We have 2 rescues, Shelby and Sam. Both came with their trust issues but time and love have bridged the gaps. Best dogs ever...gentle loving members of the family yet fiercly protective when it comes down to it. They play and romp with the cats and chickens while on "patrol". And then there's Snort'n Morton....Sam's best friend, another rescue.

My only complaint is that she barks a lot. Otherwise, you couldn’t ask for a more loyal friend.

What a nice looking firend. Hopefully he'll re-gain his confidence.
Funny thing I told the wife I'd have no part of taking him to the vet for neutering. The other day I asked the wife if she ever checked the boy stitches (this ones is her dog) if she knew if the had to be pulled or if the fell out?

She started acting like she was above that, so I told her take care of her dog like she promised. The dog really didn't want her looking, so I told he get a picture with her phone. The picture looked like the stitches were ripped out. So she had to load him up & take him in. Luckily the stitches are still in. Bad news the dog fought her getting in the car. Now she's sporting a black ye & a big bruise on her arm. The dog really aint to excite about his leash either.

I still have the training collar from my bulldog & it's adjustable. Her dog is going to be fine. He is scared of my recliner or when I'm in it. His skittishness is coyote like in the house. Back yard by himself he's loving it. Neighbor dogs that run loose come over & they play along the fence line.

How about something a bit umm different from the usual good looking doggies ? :) My soon to be 8 y/o baby that just survived a 1700 mile move last Dec.

Knowing we raised rabbits on the farm as a kid, friend called me recently wanting to know why "Pete", his pet rabbit, was pulling hair off his stomach and making a nest.

Told him to change her name to "Paula". ;)

We have a refugee from the stormy weather. The wife was bringing stuff in from her car, when this one was waiting to come in out of the weather. Rabies tag, but no name tag with phone number.

Rabies tag is out of Burleson, Texas 2 + hours away.

Someone is freaking out about her! Earlier during the lighting & thunder she tried to get up on the furniture. No critters on my furniture!

Hopefully the weather permits her to go home. I e-mailed the veterinarian her rabies tag are from. Definitely we will be call the veterinarian tomorrow.
