The Government tells me that it’s 8:00 am, but it sure does feel like 7:00 am

Why not just leave it at the natural time? If someone wants to wake up an hour earlier and leave work an hour earlier, let them make those arrangements with their employers.

There is no real “natural time.” Natural time would put the sun directly overhead at noon. Time zones are not natural because the sun rises and sets earlier in the east side of the zone than the west side and they are supposed to be in the same time zone. The further north you go, the longer the day in the summer and the shorter the day in the winter. At the equator, the variation is much smaller with about 12 hours of sunlight year round.

You said there’s no natural time then described what natural time is. Yeah, it varies across time zones. However, IMO we’re better off staying closer to natural time instead of artificially shifting it by an hour.

Also, I prefer to enjoy Texas Summer evenings after the sunset.

Sun dials read in natural time...

the government messes up everything it touches. I can only imagine what they would come up with to replace it.

    Leave it ALONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would prefer to be on daylight savings time year round. I like having that extra hour of daylight to get things done outside. I have a hard time just getting the yard mowed when we are on standard time because it gets dark so early. I look forward to going on DST each year. I hate being on standard time. Just like the arrival of spring, it is like life coming back on line.

Daylight Savings Time was originally to allow more time for farmers to tend their crops and give more outdoor time to factory workers. Farmers work as needed anyway (especially in the age of modern lighting) so that argument is specious. As for work outside, the folks who regularly work outside just adjust their hours of work to work sun-up to sun-set. I have heard some comments from "experts" that staying on Daylight Savings Time year round would cause more accidents (and seen some old reports on the same) but I think that is just nonsense to justify government intervention.

What do you do between 8 and 9 PM during the middle of the Summer outside that you wouldn’t normally do?

I’m usually waiting for the sun to go down so I can enjoy the evening outside.
