It has nothing to do with saving lives and everything to do with control.
I thought PA was good on guns. They banned assault rifles?!Woman offered me a really good job opportunity in California. I said I won't go.
Her: No problem it’s a wildly progressive school that I don’t really understand but saw it and thought I should share.
Me: Can't live in California, New York, Illinois, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Hawaii, Maryland, and Pennsylvania
Her: Damum that’s a bunch of no states.
Me: yeah well View attachment 140948 I don't want to be a felon so I won't move there. Half the firearms I own are banned there
Nowhere near as big an error as writing the bill in the first place.
I feel sorry for NJ. Maryland passed a similar bill in 2013 but 4,000 of us testifying against it until 2:00 am in the Senate and another few thousand keeping them at it until 4:00 am in the House managed to beat them back to a "two feature" test with an exemption for the heavy barrel ARs used in rifle competition. The law still sucked and Baltimore's murder rate is pretty good proof not one life was saved by it.
Using the term 'assault weapon' is like using the term 'gun violence'. The anti-gun machine is the one that coined those terms to make people think that guns are bad. And they have used them so much that pro-gun folks are now using them.
Good to hear that you were fighting the anti-gun machine.

Pennsylvania isnt bad at all. I lived there for a year or so and I had a great experience with the 2A community. The only thing they have that sucks is private handgun sales have to go through an FFL. Other than that, there are no feature restrictions like the shitholes nj and ny have on "assault rifles". No mag capactiy restrictions too.
Other than that, its what we would call a "free" state. The LTC up there consists of getting fingerprints at the sheriffs and then mailing a packet. Two weeks later, you get your license. No training or class fees. $24 for 5 years
Plus the 2A people up there are rabidly pro gun and hate the federal government with a passion. If there is a rally at the state capitol, thousands are showing up. I use to carpool people from where I lived all the way to there for the rallies.
I would just keep it on your list because you will freeze your ass off up there lol. Winter for 7 months out of the year blows but it is the best state for hunting that I have ever been to. People are a little more cold than a Southerner but they were way more accepting of me than most Southern folks are of them(good yankees, not the assless chaps wearing liberal types)
x2...God Bless Texas!

Playing the word salad game sets you up to lose. The people who've bought into the postmodern sliding definitions won't accept your definitions because you're not their tribe. So far it has been a war of words and with the media complicit in the effort to strip our rights, the other side has an upper hand. We can fight back by trying to steer the language to a more accurate description and away from the emotional appeal of the left's scary words. They are small changes but easy enough to work into a conversation.
Instead of "gun," try using "firearm." Firearm sounds just a little bit less scary. "Gun" is the boogeyman to the anti-rights crowd. Hearing and using the word sends them into a frenzy.
Debate? As if they want to hear your side.Playing the word salad game sets you up to lose. The people who've bought into the postmodern sliding definitions won't accept your definitions because you're not their tribe.
The best thing to do is just call out their bullshit as meaningless and move on, but if you really want to debate them make them define their terms first. They usually can't or if they do will contradict their definition at some point because they have no objectivity in the first place. Substituting your own definitions will just get you in a pissing match about what the definition of is is.
You don't debate to change the other person's mind. It depends on the audience whether debating is worthwhile or not. I think it usually isn't worth it, but I understand the folks who like the sport of it.Debate? As if they want to hear your side.
