Fun fact. Old school law enforcement training. Sticking a finger behind the trigger on a revolver, stops it cold. So if you get into a knock down drag out. The guy pulls a revolver. If you can, jam a finger behind the trigger.

"Yes, it'll most likely Damn near pull your finger off but you'll be alive"

You can't stick a finger behind the trigger of a Glock. For the record, I really like revolvers.

Grab the cylinder and hold. Stops it too and you won't lose a finger

Please stop whoring this thread. I'm looking for serious discussion. Can I get a mod or admin?

Sorry, I really didn't think it was a serious question/thread. Maybe others thought that, too? Like a Ford vs. Chevy thread or something to get folks to start some sh!t talking.

Seriously then, my answer would be either, or maybe both.

Much better chance of the gross motor skills succeeding than the "ninja finger strike to the back of the trigger guard" as well.

Unless they pull your finger off your hand. The revolver ain't going no where. I'd include grabbing the cylinder, grabbing the hammer, and ninja sticking the trigger.

There's no doubt revolvers are reliable. They just have lots of ways they can be defeated. More then a typical SA semi auto.

Mr. OP - I hate to derail the fun, but if I had to stop somebody with any of my handgun rounds, it would be with a .357 mag hollow point. I just happen to have a snubbie that I can shoot pretty well with that round, but I rarely carry it and rely on some +P 9mm.

Off to the store to buy Hoji some TP.

Not sure why anyone would think that, but ok.

Semiautos these days are just not known to fail. There is no reason to even own a revolver unless maybe your grandpappy handed it down to you.

Unless the cylinder is already indexed, the hammer is cocked, and the revolver is loaded with a hot round. Ever see what the gasses from the cylinder gap of a 357 mag can do to a hand?

If the hammer is back. Grab that part of the revolver. Keep it from going forward.

That's assuming you can not only grab the cylinder, but have the gross motor skills needed to also stop the hammer with a finger of thumb, and that you can do this all before the trigger is pulled, which takes a fraction of a second.

I think this situation is starting to get a little unrealistic. If I'm behind that revolver, and that hammer is cocked, my finger is already going to be on that trigger, or at least inside the guard. I'm also not going to let you get that close. I'm going to be backing up, and ANY movement towards me is going to be consider hostile.

Is it possible to do what you say? Yes. It's it likely for it to work? That depends on a large number a variables, any of which can royally screw you over.

Now since you are pointing all all these supposed flaws with the revolver, it is only fair to do the same for the semi auto. You can grab the slide and push back, use your thumb to jam the chamber, hit the mag drop, flip the safety, and if it has one, block the hammer.

If you are at the point where this ^ sort of stuff becomes an issue, you have already made serious tactical and situation awareness mistakes.

During an episode of tunnel vision. Lots of things take a different perspective. You now know, since reading this thread, how to defeat a revolver.

It seems unrealistic and if the tunnel vision go's your way. The after check of yourself and your abilities will amaze you.
