Damn. I only took one pic too just to send to the girls so they could see what the field looks like this year. I even brought my badass SLR so I could get great pics but the news that made me leave early was a huge distraction as my heart & mind was immediately elsewhere.

Guess we're just gonna have to do a repeat. Except I vote we camp next time!

Well, yeah. A place to sleep is wasted on some people.

In Mason TX now. Two days and two limits. Hunting in the AM and then back to the SETX Coast.

The two most dangerous places in today's world:
    1.) a gun free zone
    2.) your comfort zone

Got the third limit this morning. Should be home this afternoon to start grilling. I'm stoked the new possession limit is 45 birds. I used my son's 870 Express Magnum 20 GA this year. He couldn't miss his college classes and stayed home this year.

One of the best reasons to go hunting - Pepper aka Houdini:

Mojo worked on one dove only. It was a pipsqueak of a thing and was hovering over the mojo. I had to wait for the damn thing to move before I shot it so I didn't send a wad of #8's through my decoy.

where we were yesterday the land owner sat in the north west corner under a big mesquite tree and had two mojos out about 30 yards in front of him.
He slayed the birds with those. I can't remember how many birds flew across the field out of my range and went right in for him.
I watched many birds drop from about 10 feet high as they were coming in.

The birds final destination. I plucked two of them to try something different. I doubt I'll get to hunt Dove again until this time next year. We already reserved our room and hunting accommodations. If anyone would like to hunt Mason TX look up EE Adventures 830-719-2115. The morning hunts are unbelievable and the Saturday lunch is outstanding. This is my second year hunting this area and I'm looking forward to a third.

Headed out to the BCR bright and early in the morning. Starting to see more birds moving through so maybe...

Reports are that the bulk are still hanging out north of the Red River but at least it's finally starting to slip south.

Got some migration friendly weather coming up this week.
