Since I know half ya'll out there have one, what's your best target load for your AR ? My best group at 50yds with my eotech bearing m-15(Armalite,1in8,16") is typically done with 55-60gr bullets(Hornady Vmax or SP w/c) and Varget powder(25.5gr). I have been able to get AA2230 to group almost as well but I'm still looking for the perfect powder measure. Whether you reload or not, I would like to know what works best in your rifle. Thanks for contributing - Texmex

My pet load right now is my lathe-turned 57 grain FMJ bullet over 22 grains of H-322

22 grains of H335 with a Nosler 77 grain match bullet; COAL of 2.255 for the 200 and 300 yard line. For the 600 yard prone, 23 grains of H335 with Nosler's 80 grain match bullet: COAl of 2.245 since they are single loaded.

    Updated target load info.

So a few hundred rounds later, I have decided that the sierra non-cannelured soft points(55gr) and 60gr HP rounds have thoroughly outgrouped the rest(hornady and nosler 55gr BT and hornady 55gr SP w/and w/o cannelures) by a good 20% or better. I am still using an Eotech w/o magnification at 50yds. I will never try to make this a 100+ yd gun, so I am content with putting 20 on a golf ball sized area at 50. In my early reloading experiences, I was frustrated with the C.O.L.s of the seirra bullets and I thought they were pretty sucky. Months later, the targets don't lie and the same bullets with duplicate powder charges show the Seirras to be tighter grouping every time. Just thought I'd pass it on. Now if I could just find them in Bulk for a better price, I'd be set.

Group size is greatly effected by the quality of the rifle barrel. Wilson Combat offers an AR that is rated at 1/2" at 100 yards. My Rock River ARs are rated at 3/4" at the same 100 yards. The best a Colt National Match AR is rated, is 2" at 100 yards.
I use Sierra Matchking 52 gr. HPBT bullets and 26.5 grs. of Winchester 748 in my reloads. I have achieved sub 1/2" groups at 100 yards.
The ability of the person pulling the trigger is by far the most important aspect of group size. Practice, practice practice....
