The Dallas Pistol Club is hosting one of only three Glock Sport Shooting Foundation (GSSF) matches being held in Texas this year the last weekend of October 2022. Prizes are awarded to high shooters. So beg borrow but don't steal any Glock pistol(s) and come to the match either Saturday or Sunday anytime between 9am to 2pm. Go to Glock's website here to learn register and how the match is conducted/scored.

Note: if not already a member of GSSF you will have to join as a separate fee besides each gun you want to shoot. Shooters often bring two or more pistols. I have seen one individual shoot 8 different pistols in the match.

DPC will also need many volunteers to host the match for GSSF. You do not have to be a club member to volunteer. Volunteers will be eligible for prizes. You can volunteer thru the GSSF website now or DPC's website later this year.

:laughing::laughing: The club has been around many years starting in Dallas and moving to current location in 1970s. The club hosts at least four pistol matches every month where you can bring any kind of revolver or old school pistol...like a 1911 model created by some guy named Browning.:roflsmile::roflfunny:Non-members are always welcome for any scheduled events. Most of the pistol shooting is 'action pistol' along with steel matches and bullseye matches. The only hard part is getting out the front door. Please join us and the conversations about new vs old pistols or life.

p.s. Yes, I am a member and active volunteer for club activities.

p.p.s. Again yes DPC will put on a Glock match for 'real guns' Oct 1st for practice before the official one at month end.. You can bring any type of pistol to shoot the practice Glock match course of fire. So come on out and demonstrate your real gun in a Glock match. To register for the practice match go to the DPC website the week of the match. :twin::twin::twin:

Will DPC be hosting matches in the future for real guns?...

BTW: forgot to say thanks for covering Glock pistol with some 'shade'. Gave me good excuse to reply and add more info about DPC and the once a year Glock match. I have won a few bucks over the years. Better yet are the competitors who win pistols and volunteers who win pistol door prizes.

Partner, that ain't even funny in the least! Gaston Glock ain't even a wart on John Browning's ass! Glock had one pistol design he patented. Browning had hundreds, plus cartridges.

Still time to register for Glock match at the Dallas Pistol Club last weekend of Oct. For those who haven't shot a Glock match before or been to DPC let me offer a few hints and suggestions to make your experience as pleasant as possible.

    In no particular order:
    • After arrival go right to registration without your gun/gear. Once you get your scoresheet labels go to each stage and sign-in as soon as possible. Then get your gear and go to any stage of your choice.
      • Squadding is determine by the time you signed in at the stage. For example you signed in at 10am at all three stages, shot two stages, had lunch and go to last stage by 2pm. Since you signed in at 10am you would be squadded before anyone who signed in after 10am. Of course everyone else is doing the same so plan on spending most of the day at the match. Page 17, Paragraph 110.20 in the GSSF rules explains this process.
    • Most shooters arrive Sat morning so Sat usually has the most entries (1 gun = 1 entry). Many competitors bring two or more pistols so 50 people often means 100 guns to be shot. Sunday afternoon has fewest shooters.
    • Suggest you bring a picnic lunch so you don't have to leave range. There are fast food places several miles away in Lewisville along I35E
    • If you have a cart or something to carry gear bring it. Along with chair/stool as there is limited seating around stages.
    • All shooting is done from the 'low ready' position per GSSF rules so a holster isn't necessary. If you want to carry your gun in a holster it must be with magazine removed and slide locked to rear. Using a gun bag/rug is easier.
    • Best to bring four magazines per gun for Glock plates which has four strings the others three. That way you don't have to reload during stage. If you don't have enough mags best to enlist someone to reload while you are shooting.
    • Friends/family/observers are welcome at no cost but must wear eye/hearing protection at all times near stages.
    • Hot sunny day can be expected so wear appropriate clothes and sun block, etc.
    • DPC has a virtual tour of the facility on their website
    • Restrooms have running water so you can refill your water jugs there.
    • Volunteers still needed which depending upon how much you work gets you raffle ticket(s) for Glock pistol door prize.
As a club member let me welcome you to one of only three Glock matches in Texas in 2022. Next one will be in San Antonio area in Dec. I will be range safety officer on the 5 to Glock stage. Come say hello and bust some caps.

Here is write-up from Glock about the recently finished 28th match at Dallas Pistol Club. With the number of entries (1 gun = 1 entry) Glock awarded eight pistols to the club for a raffle drawing for the volunteers.

"Carrollton Texas set an alltime high attendance record of 525 entries. Even with the weather on Saturday being less than optimal, the shooters and Range Officers showed up in droves. We had people come from all over the country to shoot one of GSSF’s longest running matches. This was the 28th match for the Lone Star Classic at Dallas Pistol Club.
Thank you to all involved for making this a record year."

And kudos for the shooters in OK for putting on a new record setting match earlier in Oct.

The inaugural OKC Red Dirt Shootout was a huge success! The turnout was incredible, with 544 entries in twelve divisions shot over the 2 days of the match. This was not only the largest inaugural match we have ever had, but they also set the record for the biggest match in the Midwest. Additionally, this match had 52 ladies compete, the most ladies to shoot in any match we have ever hosted. Big shout out to not only the staff for putting on such a great first event, but also to all the folks that labored behind the scenes to ensure that this match was a rip-roaring success, and we are not talking just about the windy Oklahoma Plains.
Thanks to all who came out and competed, worked, or just watched a friend or loved one shoot. We look forward to seeing y’all next year when OKC-23 sets the new record to beat for the I-35 Corridor and the Midwest.
