Five years ago today I was at work having dinner and opened a news website to be greeted by the following picture and a headline stating a Marine Corps (K)C-130 had crashed. 16 men died that day, of the seven crew members I knew six.

That’s a tough thing. I’m Army Aviation (CH-47 and UH-60) and I’ve experienced loss in my career. All we can do is honor them by remembering them like you’re doing here.

Some very serious maintenance/inspection issues on that aircraft.
All Marine and Navy legacy C-130’s were downed for quite a while, including Fat Albert. A LOT of props were replaced across the fleet because of that.

The depot that did the prop didn’t keep detailed records that far back to know who worked on that prop but they traced it back to that.
