Carrying without a round in the chamber is a poor decision. I can't believe this is still something being discussed....

A revolver with an empty chamber under the hammer is prudent in some types of weapon.

The only negative is the loss of one round in capacity.

When I carry a Colt SAA, or clone, I lower the hammer on an empty chamber - having loaded only five rounds. If I'm carrying a transfer -bar type system, I load six.

If I'm doing target practice or plinking with a Colt SAA or clone, I usually load six.

Everything has a round in the chamber.
SAA, depends on the hammer style. But if I am going to carry it or as a house gun, they are loaded with 6 rounds.
