Maybe I'm reading this wrong, but for HB1078, if I have a certification for cardiopulmonary resuscitation from a nationally recognized organization, I don't have to pay fees for my LTC or DL anymore?

As long as you aren't required to have the certification per your work/contract, yes, that is how I read it as well. It's just a damn shame I renewed a couple days ago :(

It's voluntary at my job, and they pay for the training. There's no requirement to have CPR certs. I always do it, because it's not a bad thing to have.

The no fee for CHL may sound like a good deal, but have you looked up the prices for a CPR class? This can't be from any CPR class, it has to be from the American Red Cross or American Heart Assoc. These classes are anywhere between $80-150 and they have to be renewed every year at that same price. No thanks, but I will just keep paying the fees for my CHL and DL, it will be way cheaper in the long run.

    Edit:
On that note, I am First Aid/CPR/AED certified, but not from one of the Institutions mentioned above and therefor not eligible to have my fees waved. I have contacted TxDPS about that and they told me that my certification was valid for the waved fees.
