    I signed this petition to sen a message that I was sick of the constitution being treated like toilet paper by the current administration. Got the response today.

    "Thank you for using the White House's online petitions platform to participate in your government.

    In a nation of 300 million people -- each with their own set of deeply-held beliefs -- democracy can be noisy and controversial. And that's a good thing. Free and open debate is what makes this country work, and many people around the world risk their lives every day for the liberties we often take for granted.

    But as much as we value a healthy debate, we don't let that debate tear us apart.

    Our founding fathers established the Constitution of the United States "in order to form a more perfect union" through the hard and frustrating but necessary work of self-government. They enshrined in that document the right to change our national government through the power of the ballot -- a right that generations of Americans have fought to secure for all. But they did not provide a right to walk away from it. As President Abraham Lincoln explained in his first inaugural address in 1861, "in contemplation of universal law and of the Constitution the Union of these States is perpetual." In the years that followed, more than 600,000 Americans died in a long and bloody civil war that vindicated the principle that the Constitution establishes a permanent union between the States. And shortly after the Civil War ended, the Supreme Court confirmed that "[t]he Constitution, in all its provisions, looks to an indestructible Union composed of indestructible States."

    Although the founders established a perpetual union, they also provided for a government that is, as President Lincoln would later describe it, "of the people, by the people, and for the people" -- all of the people. Participation in, and engagement with, government is the cornerstone of our democracy. And because every American who wants to participate deserves a government that is accessible and responsive, the Obama Administration has created a host of new tools and channels to connect concerned citizens with White House. In fact, one of the most exciting aspects of the We the People platform is a chance to engage directly with our most outspoken critics.

    So let's be clear: No one disputes that our country faces big challenges, and the recent election followed a vigorous debate about how they should be addressed. As President Obama said the night he won re-election, "We may have battled fiercely, but it's only because we love this country deeply and we care so strongly about its future."

    Whether it's figuring out how to strengthen our economy, reduce our deficit in a responsible way, or protect our country, we will need to work together -- and hear from one another -- in order to find the best way to move forward. I hope you'll take a few minutes to learn more about the President's ideas and share more of your own."


    Pretty much what I would expect but what pisses me off is that they had the nerve to quote a documented that they have attempted, and succeeded, in circumventing time and time again. They have absolutely no respect for the Constitution or the Bill of Rights yet they will pull-up bits and pieces from it when it works in their favor.

    I must say their is more hypocrisy in this email than anything I have ever experienced and it only serves to piss me off more. Of course they won't say "sure, you can leave" but they have the nerve to pretend they have THE PEOPLE'S interest at heart, WTF!


    Maybe this should have gone in the rants section. Oh well.

    In case my previous excerpt from the Declaration of Independence wasn't sufficient, here's another relevant paragraph from the same document:

    "In every stage of these Oppressions We have Petitioned for Redress in the most humble terms: Our repeated Petitions have been answered only by repeated injury. A Prince whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people."

    They pick and choose the portions of the Constitution that suits their needs and trample the rest claiming it is out dated. They say they couldn't have predicted today's society or weapons while writing the 2A yet they parade a short excerpt as something that transcends time and change.

    They need to choose, do they think it is outdated or is it the most important document in this nations history.


    Personally, I think they made their choice but since they can't run It through a shredder they will tear off pieces here and there and using what is left to their fullest advantage. I can think a lot of words to describe those people but not one that I would feel is appropriate for a public forum, and I'm not typically shy with colorful language.

    Why are we asking the fed.gov for permission? While I agree that Texas unfortunately surrendered our individual right to secede, the right remains in contract law. When one party violates the terms of a contract, the court provides only a couple means of redress. Either the offending party returns to the terms of the contract, or the contract is declared null and void, and then it becomes a question of assessing damages. I submit that the "meat" of the contract between Texas and the republic is the U.S. Constitution. The frequent and numerous violations are clear for everyone to see.

    The petition was a means to send a message. It was an attempt by the people of Texas as well as many other states to show their frustration with the current administrations agenda and their dismissal when our concerns are voiced.

    No one expected a fair well handshake, it was simply a message the we have had just about enough of this communist left wing liberal bullshit they keep trying to force feed us while we watch this country, and our rights, going down the drain.


    Our voice, even if the worst case scenario comes to pass, will always be the most powerful tool we have. There is a reason we remember the speeches our founding fathers have but not which one was the best shot.

    The Mexican State of Tejas did not have any legal "right" as such to secede from the Republic of Mexico.......but they went ahead and did it anyway.

    At some point, in order to head off a Marxist/George Soros "progressive" take over of the Constitutional Republic known as the U.S. It WILL unfortunately be necessary for states such Texas to separate from the union.

    This is not an endeavor in which some blueprint for success will be available to follow. It will just happen.

    I would argue to proceed with the laying of the foundation for such separation now, "prepper" style. The Marxist style agenda of the Left now in control of the Democratic Party is increasingly being revealed for the utter disdain it holds for our U.S. Constitution, and our rights that Constitution was established to secure.

    Much as a battered wife would pack a"bug-out" bag, and set aside resources, and assets for the "great escape" from tyranny- Texas should be following suit.

    It's obvious that the 'White House' completely missed the attitudes and feelings expressed in the session petition. It's an affirmation that there are a lot of folks in this country that are disgusted and fed up with the bullshit going on in Washington and signing the petition reflected those feelings. The "wish" to secede shows that the prevalent attitude is to get rid of the control of the tax-and-spend asshats in Washington and to take fiscal control to restrain the socialist/Marxist leanings of those above mentioned asshats. It was "Hope and Change" but that ended up into hoping you had some change left in your pocket after the current administration totally bankrupted this country. Now it's "Forward." Forward into what? More excessive spending. More debt? More socialist/Marxist programs?

    So he quoted Lincoln on the topic of secession to a bunch of southerners? He should have just called all of our mothers whores instead. It would have been less offensive.
