I believe the adults who pushed this matter into a court room did a disservice to their kids and our future. I agree with the Judge wholeheartedly, also the coach in the video.
Judge: Portion of game between Douglass and Locust Grove will not be replayed | Oklahoma City - OKC - KOCO.com
OKLAHOMA CITY —A decision not to replay any portion of the game between Douglass and Locust Grove will stand, according to an Oklahoma County judge.
The decision, made by the OSSAA, came after refs incorrectly penalized Douglass for a sideline infraction penalty.
"From the beginning, the Oklahoma City Public School District (OKCPS) has been clear that we have a responsibility to support student athletes and do what is right. The Oklahoma Secondary Schools Athletic Association (OSSAA) game official admittedly applied the wrong penalty and OKCPS followed the proper legal process to request the wrong be made right. Unfortunately, the outcome of the hearing did not produce the results we hoped for. The judge’s decision presents an opportunity for the OSSAA to review and address the processes and procedures that effect every student athlete in Oklahoma. We hope to work with the OSSAA and identify solutions for the future to make sure the incident that occurred during the Douglass versus Locust Grove playoff game doesn't happen to other student athletes in Oklahoma," said Keith Sinor, OKCPS District Athletic Director.
The decision means Locust Grove will now play Heritage Hall for the state semi-final. The winner of that game will play Cushing for the championship.
Douglass asked for the injunction after the OSSAA admitted they penalized the team incorrectly, costing Douglass the game. The OSSAA denied an appeal from the team, leading to the court hearing.
