    1972 was about the last good year for classic Mustangs, too. I've always liked the '71-72 Mustang fastback's looks. I think it was also the last year of the "real" Mach 1 Mustang.

    One neighbor had a 340 Six Pack Barracuda. 4 speed.

    Another Had a 440 Six Pack Barracuda. 727.

    The Carb Guy had a 440 Six Pack GTX . 727. (everyone took their multiple carb vehicles to this gentleman, bike or car)

    Classmate had a 440 Six Pack Road Runner. 4 speed.

    All filled up with Sunoco 260! 25.9 cents/gallon! I put it in their cars!

    Another classmate had a 383 SuperBee with 413 heads & a 3/4 cam. Single 4 barrel. 4 speed. This car RAN!

    Hmph.
    I dreamt of those, but caliche roads and farm work meant, my first 4 vehicles were trucks.
    That's a sweet ride that I'll never get behind the wheel of.
    Don't worry, my mother helped me buy it and I could barely keep up with the payments. After the gas hike, it was hard to feed it. I had a lead foot.

    Man. I had a subscription to Hot Rod magazine and spent more time reading Progressive Farmer.
    Older brother could break more equipment than me and Dad could keep running.
    I still love slow speed high torque stuff.
    But now and then, I wanna fly.

    I'll tell what, I had that speedometer pegged at 150 several times, it made those straight roads outside Vegas seem curvy.
