    My first was,
H & R model.349 Gamester16ga bolt action shotgun. Still have a H & R model 351 12ga bolt action, not worth much but its in good condition and can't seem to let it go. Really never shoot it, just sets in the safe. Those were the days.

English stock - damn, I've killed a lot of birds with that one. Still one of the favorites in the safes.

My very first gun was a single shot bolt action Remington 510 Target Master. It would shoot shorts, longs and long rifle. My dad presented it to me in 1958 on my tenth birthday. I spent years in the forest hunting squirrels and shooting targets. I can still remember that wonderful smell of shooting it on a cold day. What was your first real gun?

Plenty of access to family 22 rifles and 12 gauge and a bolt action 410, but my very own gun of any kind was a savage bolt action 30-30 for Christmas as an 11 year old. Life in Montana sweet then: combination license was 2 deer tag, an elk tag, fishing, pheasant. You got an antelope license but had to draw for a tag, likewise Moose, goat. Did get a bear tag but never used it.
    Life was good.
    Still is, sorta
