2008 Ford Expedition, 62k miles, battery is Ford battery with date of 6/18.

So I’ve been seeing what I thought was possibly windshield washer fluid on the ground from the right front corner of my truck. Which would be odd as I use the green bug stuff and driving home late at night I go through a lot of it. I thought that maybe it was some residual somewhere.

Decided to take a look today and saw the corrosion on the battery is blue and there is some dried fluid on top of the battery.

    Ideas?

I'm wondering if your alternator is over charging and boiling the fluid out on top of battery. Stop in at an Auto Zone or Advance Auto and they should check it for free.

Or the vent hole for the battery is clogged. When a battery charges, it will produce gas that has to vent. If the vent is clogged, when the pressure built it seeped around the terminal instead of bowing up. And yes, I have personally seen them do that. Get the battery checked.

It's just a crappy battery with typical poor connections. Battery cables don't last forever. There's nothing wrong with the alternator. I see this every time I jump start a F***.

Copper oxide is blue. Your copper wiring is corroding.

Yep, had that once. I clean it but it died shortly afterwards. Not the battery but the negative cable. You could grab it and feel it crunch. The copper within the ground wire went bad so it had to be replaced.

Yea somethings gone awry because you can see the battery weeping from every hole.

Need to have it checked for sure before it leaves you afoot.
