If you're in Central Texas (Ausint/SA) Texas-Tactical also hosts IDPA style carbine matches that are a ton of fun. Just got finished shooting my second one today and had a blast. Next one in Austin is Feb 6th, SA Feb 5th.

I meant more in terms of getting into the competitive side of shooting

IDPA is a game, but you can shoot with regular equipment, most likely gamers will beat you tho. It has a lot of rules, some don't make a lot of sense but it's still fun.
