Stopped by academy today. Decided to swing by the ammo to see what they had. All they had was .32 acp and. 25 acp, so I bought a few boxes of each.

Why has kbaxter60 not posted a range report on his new cap&ball revolver?

    Is he a SLACKER?
Truth be told, he probably IS a slacker. But he still has a few unanswered questions and also has a preference for not blowing his shooting hand off.
The manual says to load up caps and dry fire all the chambers to dry them out before loading. Is that necessary? I think this thing has been sitting for a few years. Not sure it's ever gonna get more dry than it is now.
And the powder measure I got looked to me like it was set for about 12 gr. I am thinking I need 25 to 30 gr, based on all I've read, but when I set it to that, it looks like a LOT of powder. Anybody got a guide for the Cabela's powder measure?
Other than those, I think we're about ready to shoot this thing.
So, please weigh in. Otherwise, YOU are the slacker!

Build kit from Durkin Tactical (durkintactical.com) showed up. Haven't had time to put it together yet.

Will write it up with a range report once I do for those looking for some cheap build options to add to the safe.

Do they still have the 3 box limit?
I was at the Academy in Abilene yesterday, and the only pistol ammo they had was 44 Special. They did however have lots of 270, 308, and 300 Winmag ammo. They even had several different varieties of 6.5 Creedmoor ammo. Unfortunately, there were signs everywhere saying maximum ammo purchase of 5 boxes total, no matter how it's broken down.
