Capped off water well, missile silo, and Bret to the underside?
Seriously, what might this be?
It was there when the current owners bought the place.
It’s about 6-8” in diameter and a little over a foot tall.

It'd be one hell of a sturdy clothesline. Those are usually about 2" diamater pipe.

That's a capped well head. Most likely water, but COULD be oil, but you'd generally still see signs of old seepage/leaks.

Measure diameter- looks to be 4" across. My guess: capped well, as others have said.
