When an agency can just make up laws whenever they want, arrest people and prosecute them over it with the backing of the executives in power, and the courts aren't tossing cases and locking the prosecutors up for contempt - anything and everything becomes illegal.

Surprisingly, there are still lots of wire coat hangers out there, and dry cleaners and uniform suppliers like Cintas still deliver them. When are all the coat hanger makers, importers, and distributors going to get raided for selling machine guns? Every coat hanger out there is at least a few machine guns by itself!

@Younggun hit the nail on the head - we'll let them do it because we - gun owners and 2A supporters in general - are hard to get to stand united and say "NO" because, in general, we're nice people not prone to violence or protest. They play whack-a-mole and take people out one at a time, they make high profile arrests and prosecutions and it keeps everyone nervous, and generally in line.

They know they'll never get all the guns or even a large fraction of the guns held privately. They don't even know for sure how many guns are in private hands in the US, but the public figures are in the hundreds of millions - they don't know who has build their own guns from 80% kits, or straight up made their own stuff from scratch, they don't know what's crossed the border illegally, they don't know all the guns floating around that are pre-68 without mandatory serial numbers.

That they would base an arrest because the guy received money and promoted a LEGAL piece of flat metal is beyond ridiculous, but they want to send a message. Its no different than when ATF murdered children, women, and men in Waco. Its no different than when ATF murdered Vicky Weaver. Its no different than when the Oregon State Police and FBI murdered LaVoy Finnicum and tried killing the women in the truck with him. They were sending a message to would-be patriots to sit down, STFU, and do as you are told or you're next. Step out of line, stand up for yourself, and you'll be shot, tortured, burned, or beaten.

Welcome to the second American civil war. It doesn't look like the first. The battle lines aren't as clear, its not armies marching on cities this time. Its disparate private groups battling in stupid street skirmishes, its power-drunk bureaucrats taking a steaming shit on your rights without even hiding it, its politicized police agencies arresting people without good cause, and its members of Congress telling people "we have nukes and F15's what are you gonna do"

Most gun owners are going to tuck away their verboten guns and lie and say they sold them or destroyed them, others will turn them in so as not to risk the ire of the state. A few may go down fighting. Others will be killed in their sleep during no-knock raids. There might be another Waco, or Ruby Ridge. And the response could well wind up being another Oklahoma City.

I pray for our country regularly, I pray that my son doesn't have to fight the fight when he's older, and that we all live to see the better side of this conflict. Some days are harder than others and some days I wonder if we really will see the rays of sunshine and liberty on the other side.
