Let them vote to start the process. It goes to the Senate for trial. Conviction requires every Senate D + nearly half the remaining Senators to agree.

Possible Outcomes:
1. Trump impeached and removed from office - Pence becomes the man and the Rs have a horse race to the nomination.
2. Trump is impeached but not removed from office; he gets a censure (which is questionable and untested), but does not disqualify him from serving a second term. I think this is a low likelihood and is the worst case scenario.
3. Senate does not impeach. Trump gets the scarlet “I” and the public has to decide if the thought of continuing this type of discord in the federal government for another four years is better or worse than choosing socialism.
