HI I am going to install RAM into my desk top and all I have to do is just install chips and turn on PC and It will recognize new memory.

Go 7 paragraphs down and start at the "The first step is to boot up the computer and carefully watch the screen. Typically several messages will flash by." Go on from there but you will be working with memory and not disabling ports.

Depends if your computer is even compatible with the RAM you are installing or not. Not all RAM is the same and certain operating systems will only utilize up to a certain amount of it so going overboard is a waste of money.
