I would offer data from additional tests but I'm awaiting my replacement sunshade from Caldwell.

They have really great customer service and are sending me one free because I used the promo code, "DUMBASS"!

Try the MaxiMag as suggested. They are 40 grain instead of 50. You can buy them direct from CCI for $18 per 50 and shipping is free if you get six or more boxes ($100 or more spent).

Also try one of the self defense styles made for 22WMR handguns.

I'll give the maxi-mag a try and start looking for a box of the defensive ammo designed for shorter barrels.

I started testing with what I had on hand.

    Another update...

I did some swapping for another new bearcat. The converted wmr cylinder fits perfectly in the latest acquisition. It fires 22 lr, 40 gr HP Velocitors at about 1,150 ft per second. The Armcor 40 grain JHP 22 WMR are near 1,325 fps.

The two New Model Bearcats were made the same year, and both are in great shape. Proof that every firearm handles ammo differently. Glad I finally bought a chronograph!

Armed with this new data (pun intended), I will be carrying 22 Magnum in the Bearcat unless I'm just plinking.
