I emailed my pastor about closing church here in Victoria and never got a response. People need to stand up.

I'll expand a bit on my thoughts on this.

According to their provisions in the state of California, they can't restrict what people believe, but can restrict religious practices during a pandemic according to the welfare of public safety.

That approach is unlikely to hold up in court, say constitutional experts. While the government can't tell people what to believe, it can restrict their actions. That includes restricting religious practices during a pandemic.

While the right to gather with others for worship services is firmly protected by the First Amendment, legal scholars say the Supreme Court has also recognized that those rights can be suspended in the interest of public health.

Personally, I find those are valid points. Now where I find the huge exception and problem with this is, at what point were they restricting protesting according to the same criteria? That too is protected by the 1st Amendment, but in the case of several large cities in California, that right was never ever suspended under the same set of rules.

My assessment is if they didn't, or wouldn't suspend protesting under the auspices of public safety measures, then trying to suspend or infringe upon the right of church and it's parishioners to worship, doesn't seem credible IMO.

However, different rules cannot be made up that make conditions harsher on churches.

And the "public safety" has to be bona fide and deserving the measures imposed (per SCOTUS precedent).

Instead of worship services, churches should hold protest services.

    People are too programmed.

Then unprogram them! They aren't going to know unless people stand and talk about these things. If you talk to ten people, and only one person actually listens to you and starts thinking, then that is one more person who may help change things. Make them question what they believe, and get them to start thinking. One step at a time. One person at a time.

All black lives matter to me. Not just ones killed by white cops. Especially the little kids killed by thugs all over the country.

Marxist bastards dont matter so much. They still matter, I want them where I can see them.

Pretty much sums up my thoughts as well. IF they were doing something to suspend or stop the protests due to "public safety" concerns, I might be inclined to give some leeway about suspending church worship. But they aren't even trying to. They are allowing criminal activity to keep happening, that is arising from the protests, while punishing in a manner the law abiding citizens who want to attend church services and worship.

I see a huge contradiction there and different sets of rules being applied against the churches. IMO they have a legitimate case. Whether they get a fair hearing in a court of law, is another matter entirely though.
