Got to take a new shooter to the range today. Been a while since I took a kid out to learn to shoot. My son ask me to teach his girlfriend's 13 year old to shoot rifles. Took my Savage MKii Precision 22lrworked a little bit last night with him on trigger control, safety rules and range ettiquete. Happy to say he did great. Didn't have to remind him once. Went over the importance of sight picture, body position and being relaxed. Shot great. Started at 25yds and went out to 50yds. As windy as it was I didn't want to try 100yds. Winds gusting to 20 mph.
First picture is his first target at 25yds. The next is his target at 50yds. The round at 12 o'clock is his first round, he corrected and aimed at the "3" below the bulls eye and shot the rest. Then shot another. Only pulled a few rounds. Took his time and came off the rifle if he didn't feel right about the shot most of the time. I was impressed. Out of about 150 rounds in 2 hours, he only puled about 12 rounds and shot really consistant for a new shooter.
Had a big smile when one of the other range members comented on how well he was shooting as well as his behavior on the range. He done good.

Thanks folks. I had a good day. More importantly, he seemed to. He was a little nervous on the way. He had never shot more than a BB gun before and that only once.
One of my most favorite things is teaching people to fish and shoot. Especially kids. I love the look when the light clicks that they can do it. Priceless.
