Other than mine is getting worse and can't / shouldn't be ignored much longer, I know next to nothing about it.

I'm wondering what "treatment" other shooters are using to mitigate the problem.

We have a pill for that!

I had to look it up since I am not familiar with that term. First thing that popped up was an ad for a pill. It will probably kill your liver, make you bleed from the anus, and have so many other side effects that the ringing in your ears will be the least of your problems. I don't know if that is really a treatment though.

Hope somebody can help with it. It doesn't look good though.

Been living with it for quite some time.
At last test was told I have 40% hearing loss in one ear.

I stay out of indoor ranges where rifles are being fired is the only thing I do differently, don't know much else that can be done.

mine is not too bad except for times when I am in a total silent environment.
I shot a snake this summer with my wife's 380 with no ears on and it just about killed me. For 30 days it was really bad.

now when I shoot, I use foam plugs over electronic muffs and that helps a bunch.

As an aside during my last Dr visit I mentioned tinnitus and he referred me to an ENT but I haven't persued it. A wild goose chase is what I want to avoid.

All they can do is diagnose.
Like dawico said, you'll find ads for a pill.
I don't think a Dr is going to suggest that pill.
    It is what it is.

I've been dealing with it most of my life. It's just there anymore. The worst is of course, in the quiet at night when I'm trying to fall asleep. That's when I use/need some "white noise" in the background. My space heater helps in the winter, and the AC and, or, ceiling fan going during the rest of year helps. Is also why the tv is on most of the time when I'm home. Even though there's STILL nothing on. It's background noise. Just so I don't have to hear that (CENSORED) ringing in my ears all the time.

While we are waiting for that pic of the foam plugs over the muffs...

I had it pretty bad BEFORE I started shooting a lot...BUT, I connected it to the statins I took for a couple of years(cleared very quickly when I kicked the statins). It really wasn't a problem except when I was trying to rest in a quiet environment, then the high-pitched whine would take over my thoughts. There are times now that I 'think' I can hear it; but it has never interfered with my day-to-day activities nor has it resulted in an actual hearing "loss".

IF you are taking meds, check with the Dr. to see if there might be a connection. Good luck out there!
