It has become all but impossible to fire a rifle here. You have to rive around 100 miles round trip AND pay a fee or join a club to shoot at a very limited range (200 yards) Limited number of lanes and not open every day.
Political pressure has forced most places to close and sell their property.
To round off my long gun collection I purchased a Winchester Model 1886 in .45-70 which is my favorite cartridge over all. It was made in 1892 and has about 70% original blue and slightly faded case colors to mottled grey. The bore is excellent and the stock is original finish. It should be a good shooter if I get a chance.

I love those old Winchester lever action rifles, and I really like that one. Very nice indeed.

I have shot the 45-70 cartridge in several different firearms over the years, but I have never shot one in one of the Winchester lever actions. That would be pretty cool.

Thanks to all you guys for the positive replies. It is a bit discouraging when the political and racial tension gets to this point. Just have no choice but to hunker down and stay armed always. It is difficult to grasp this without dealing with it on a daily basis.

Unfortunately, your situation and others like it may make it more likely that rifles will be used......

With all the dumb laws being pushed in Ill. was the reason I left there in 92 along with
both the wife and I being layed off we decided Texas here we come.
