I’m getting the itch for another 1911. I’ve been wanting a specific limited run Dan Wesson Valor for a while now.

I’ve also been thinking about the Wilson Combat EDC-9, which starts at about a third higher in price than the DW.

Unfortunately, I can’t afford both right now. But, I could swing either.

    DW Pros: .45, $$
    DW Cons: 8+1

WC Pros: 15 or 18 rounds
    WC Cons: 9mm, $$$

    What do y’all think?

Personally, I would always go with .45 over 9 mm.

Take a look at Guncrafter's 1911's. The best craftsmanship I have ever seen in a pistol. Noticeably better than Ed Brown or Nighthawk. For carry, their CCO is fantastic.

    Most accurate 1911 I own.

I've loved every single 2011 I've ever even held. No question, if it were me, I'd get the EDC-9.

I've fired 2 of the so far, and they are, imho, every bit as good as as most of the custom ones.

I want a Para Warthog now...

I owned a warthog in 9mm for about 11 months. Had to send it back to para ordnance 3 times and it still never ran well. Finally took it to the guy who works on my race guns, and he got it running reliably. He said that almost no off the shelf 1911 or 2011 parts fit without MAJOR work. I finally traded it off to a guy who knew it's history, but wanted it anyway.

Otoh, maybe it was an aberration, because the 2 1911 Paras I've had were simply perfect.

As far as the 9mm goes, I would buy a cheaper brand and customize it over paying what WC wants, IMO it's way too much for what it is. That leaves the Dan Wesson, which I have been looking at lately.

I like both but for different reasons. The DW looks smooth and traditional. The WC looks like a modernized 1911 and it's a WC.

You can't go wrong with either one. Get one for now and save up for the other one.
