Tell me how YOU would make it get passed.
The power battles between the Speaker and the Lt Gov have gotten old. Ever since Perry politicized a large part of the functional government of Texas, the Speaker has decided to distance themselves farther and farther from state party and state leadership priorities.
The Lite Gov has to not just be on board, but it’s got to be a priority for him.
What puzzles me over the last several sessions is the bifurcation of state GOP priorities and legislative priorities.
You start with relationships with pro-gun representatives. This alone gets the bill introduced into both sides of the legislature which they failed to do prior session. You work with leaders to appoint pro-2A folks to key committees so your bills get heard and voted on. So that would be a start, and an improvement over where we are now.
Basically you do what other pro-gun states have done to CC passed.
Yeah I get that the TSRA PAC and Alice has to work with who is in Austin and the failure to pass CC this session was disappointing but I am more disappointed in the email TSRA/Alice sent out after the incident. It was filled with inaccurate information and you'll clearly took the side of Bonnen. Then when more information came out and after Empower Texan came out with their recording on Bonnen and now Rangers are investigating, it seems like TSRA/Alice have dug their feet in the sand even more. I am pretty sure the members do not want that kind of representation.
You didn't ask me the question but I will answer it anyway.
Since the GOA now has a representative in Austin I support them in every way possible. I also support TXGR. Those 2 are the only ones, that I know of, that are actually fighting for CC in Texas.
TSRA is a NRA puppet and as such they do not want CC. The TSRA refuses to work with any pro-gun organization, they don't want the competition. They have actually been hindering the efforts of the other pro-gun organizations! A good example of this is the lies that TSRA was, and still is, telling about McNutt.
I not only applaud you for that, I encourage you to do so even more.
You're wrong - but you're convinced otherwise, so I won't attempt to dissuade you. Many of us have met with other pro-2nd groups, but there are times that the methodology differs - and at that point, we diverge. We have a line we won't cross - others won't agree with that, and that's okay.
I'm TSRA - and I've told NO untruths about McNutt. I DID hold judgement until the bodycam footage came out, and in my mind that not only vindicated what he'd said all along, it laid bare the untruths that Bonnen had presented - and that was shared amongst a number of TSRA members.
Tell me - what lies are TSRA telling with regard to McNutt - and when? I'm not talking about the initial reports - some people relied on Bonnen's side of the story (which I felt was a mistake - but he IS an elected state official, so his story SHOULD have been accurate). I'm a bit more cynical.... Further, there has been internal discussion about those initial comments, and concern about how it was all handled. If there's things currently being said, I'd like some documentation of it - not because I'm "calling you out" on it, but because it's apparently gotten by me - and I'll happily run it back up the chain to address it.
The lies that I am referring to is the ones that tripp was telling about McNutt. I had several email exchanges with her regarding her statements about McNutt being arrested. And she insisted that her statements were correct even after she knew that I knew the truth.
Your carefully crafted statements could be considered mis-leading. Here is an example:
I think the email TSRA/Alice sent out after the incident is linked in another thread here on TGT. Maybe someone can search for it. I'm going to bed now. I'll check tomorrow. If the initial email is not linked, maybe I can search for it in my email. I know her responses to my questions are listed here in another thread. It was clearly against McNutt and in favor of Bonnen. Sure YOU are the TSRA. So am I and some of the others here as well BUT I link TSRA/Alice together because she was the one that sent the email out on behalf of the TSRA. Basically the association backed the wrong side and then once more info. came out not only did not apologize for it but didn't even make a correction to the initial email sent out.
To a member such as myself, THAT is a problem. I am surprised you are not aware of that email TSRA sent out.
I sent some money to another Texas pro-gun organization that hasn't thrown Texans under the bus.
