    Live Senate committee hearing.
Same old BS. No Constitutional basis for this committee. We carry guns to protect US from bad guys. Period. No statistics provided about accidental shootings due to no or poor training. No blood bath in states that require no training. Period. Just from bad guys trying to take 'others' stuff.
    Just another stall.
Lucio worries about those that cannot afford a gun - hogwash. Even asks an illegal question as to how many guns a person has.

Yeah - crazy thing is that Oregon, for the time being, is more gun-friendly than Texas.

Shall issue CHL's and the only training required in a couple hour class, with no range qualification, and the class can be done for free online from some instructors. Any NRA firearm safety class, hunters ed class, or firearm safety class works. Also if your DD214 says you qual'd once with a handgun, you're good.

Anyone with a CHL there can carry damn near everywhere - the exclusions being federal buildings, courthouses / court rooms unless you have the presiding judge's written permission, and a couple other places.

You can carry into any school, not just to the parking lot. You can carry in bars. You can carry in churches, restaurants, or any private place. There are no 30-06 or 30-07 style ordinances that are enforceable. A "No firearms" sign has no weight of law, the worst that can happen is that IF they discover you are armed, they can ask you to leave. At that point if you don't, you get charged with criminal trespass w/ firearm, which is a class A misdemeanor.

No problems getting any NFA goodies, no waiting periods, if you have a CHL you get bumped to the top of the stack for background checks but its same-day pickup regardless if you have a CHL or not (unless NICS is swamped like early last year, when they were running 2 day waits because of the sheer volume of BGC requests)

The shittiest thing is that Oregon passed UBC's a few years ago, killing private sales.

With Texas being way more conservative, and with the gun-friendly reputation it has, its surprising the neo-cons and libs have so much sway in writing / passing stupid laws like banning carry in schools, and having the 30-06/07 laws.

Abbott threw in his support for Constitutional Carry yesterday - hopefully this lights a fire under Patrick and the senate and it gets passed. Abbott looks like he's making moves to set himself up for re-election against the likely candidates Chad Prather and Hollywood Matt.

I'm still hoping Constitutional Carry gets passed, we need a win against the antis, and this would be a big win.

Susanna Hupp got recognized for being there, which was good to see.

HPOU pretty much said cops deserve to be protected from the average person on the street and the LTC is that blanket of protection. What a fûcking lying dirtbag.

ETA: question from Lucio to HPOU, “have you polled your officers on this bill?” Hunt’s reply was “there’s not a Houston cop that doesn’t want this bill blocked’.

Hello, thanks for the question. I don't believe anyone is saying you CAN'T carry a weapon, open or concealed. All Texas is saying is that you need to demonstrate you are proficient in the use of a firearm, know Texas carry laws and that you are not a criminal (Background Check). I will go one further. If you do have a carry license, then I believe you should be allowed to carry everyplace in Texas, schools, sporting events etc. So, yes, I am pro 2nd amendment.

    To All,

My beloved grandfather used to say, "There are 2 KINDS of people. Those with enough brains to carry a firearm safely & those people who should not even be allowed to handle a claw-hammer, lest they injure them-self with it."
    AND
"We should encourage those who can carry a gun safely to carry their pistol everywhere."

    yours, satx

Dana Loesch had Dan Patrick on a few hours ago. He said he had 12 and maybe 13 Republican votes for it, an improvement over the 6 for, 6 against, 6 not sure last week. Maybe with Abbott saying he'd sign it into law, that will give the 6 squishes enough cover for 2022.
