Ok going in a different direction, my CHL expires next year. I am currently driving with an expired DL and a letter from the DPS stating that it is good until they reopen the Driver's License offices, note I live in Harris County which is again having another upsurge in cases. I have a letter from my doctor that I am high risk, I have an artificial heart valve and getting Covid would probably be a death sentence.

So my question how is the State of Texas handling CHL renewals in the current pandemic? Has anyone had to renew during the pandemic and was it handled normally. The reason I am asking is I asked the DPS group responsible and their response was well your license is still valid and this will probably be over before it isn't.
