I'm curious about the area. What shooting ranges are:
    • outdoors,
    • east of 35, and
    • within a 20 mile radius of Temple?
TIA. Extra thanks for those willing to briefly discuss their experiences at those ranges.

I have shot at Weber's, right on I-35 just north of Temple. Been a while. You couldn't drive to the range, you had to park and have them golf-cart you down. Their steel targets were kinda fun. Day rates I thought were kinda pricey, they also had a membership. I wound up joining a differnt range.

Thanks. I didn't know about that one. The only one I knew about was Temple Gun Club.

What's your goal Ben? What are you trying to find?

I assume you aren't looking for a new home range.

FYI I am a member of Temple Gun Club and really like everything about it.

Just out of curiosity, how do they shoot highpower on that range? The web site says they shoot out to 300 yards but I don't see anything more than 100 yards when using Google to look at them from overhead. I did find a YT video from back in 2008 of a highpower match but the range seems to be much different now.

So do they still shoot highpower out there and, if they do, where's the firing line?

I don't see how to shoot 300 yard high power on this range. Note the distance scale on the bottom right.

Fyi the 200 and 300 yard shooting areas are just one crap bench with no cover. They have priority on Tuesday and Thursday mornings until 10am. You can shoot there if the rest of the range is empty too.

I don't know how they do any competitions really. The three sections are separated by berms so they just use one section for it as far as I know.

No idea on any longer range competitions.

They do plan on reconfiguring the range but I haven't seen what any future plans hold.

I like that the high power guys trust their shooters to NOT shoot the buildings downrange. That's the sort of range rule common sense we see too little these days.

    Temple Options?
I was going to suggest Temple Beth Shalom!
Seriously, I thought one of our Jewish brothers was looking for a place to observe the Sabbath!
