    Went to the auction, the 1892 had a mirrored serial number 81118 and sold for $1,550. Thats a little more than i'd like to spend on a rifle like that. It was a family heirloom that should have stayed in the family. Great grandfather bought it when they first bought the land, purchased it from a traveling winchester salesman who convinced him that it would be good to protect him from natives. It must have, North Lamar is about to cut straight through their land.

    I grew up mesmerized by "The Rifleman"....that's my excuse for having so many Winchesters.

    And Chuck Conners actually knew how to shoot. He had his own shooting range on his property (this was before the state became the People's Яepublik of Kalifornia) and he practiced shooting that rifle he used on the show. The opening sequence was actually just a rehearsal but the director liked it so much he said "Cut. Print." and that was it.
