    Unfortunately. That has been happening alot in the Katy area. They are going through neighborhoods searching for cars with the doors unlocked rummaning through them.Some of them might break a window if they see something worthwhile. The cops have caught a couple of them but there are more out there.
    TLDR : lock your cars and take anything of value out of it.
    Seems to be a national thing. In Colorado Springs, I could follow the roving bands of thieves via "watch out" reports and videos on Nextdoor as they travel from neighborhood to neighborhood. I try not keep a lot of crap, so I actually park in my garage...that helps.

    At one point, I tried to convince the neighborhood watch and city cops to set up a sting: attractive targets at the end of a cul de sac, with cars ready at the entrace to drive down to block the road (a car would follow the thieves who were on foot) and cops on bikes (should the thieves on foot try to run) when we spring the trap. The cops were too busy with regular calls to participate and nobody wanted to volunteer their cul de sac.
