Hey guys. So I was able to have the pictured stand below built pretty much free. Cost me $11 for some chain. Got the angle for free. It collapses nicely and is easy to transport and store. Kinda heavy as the legs are made from steel angle but that’s ok. Also the legs come to a point so it can dig into the ground.

I figure I can hang a larger gong from the top chain and several smaller ones from the lower. So I’ve been thinking about ways to hang the plates. My idea would be to bolt some rubber straps to the targets and hang on the chain via heavy duty S hooks. Does this sound like it’ll work or is there a better method?

Looks like it would work just fine. Heavy enough that if you built two you could also run a chain between them. And old fire hose does work very well as hanger material.

Just to give you an idea, if you can weld a little, you could make something like this… Swinging targets with just rebar and 3/8” mild steel plate to shoot .45, .40, 9mm, .38spl and smaller. The smaller targets are for rimfire. It was cheaper than AR500 and frankly, not needed. The A-frames are rebar as well. I’ve had them for almost 10 years now and no issues. There’s no craters in the steel either, but I’m not shooting the bigger cartridges. If I do, I’d hang AR500 on the A-Frames.

Flip a trampoline frame upside down. Take it apart so you have separate hangers and turn the base pieces perpendicular for stability.

Bend 3/8" rebar into S hooks and hang your plates.

Trampoline frames can be found free on neighborhood sales sites once the matt goes to hell. Rebar is cheap. No welding required.
