April 13th is sneaking up on us, so lets get this going! As usual, we're using Texas Star Shooting Range. As always, James(Manager) and Rick (Owner) have been very accommodating to us which really makes things easier for us.

    Texas Star Shooting Range
    860 Co Rd 3384, Kempner, TX 76539
    http://www.texasstarshootingrange.com/

    Directions from Copperas Cove:

Take 190 to E Ave D (Turn right at the McDonalds/CVS) / follow E Ave D to N 1st Street and take a right at the Ace Hardware, crossing the railroad tracks / go to the first light and take a left at the Dairy Queen on to W Ave B / follow W Ave B about 7 min (4.3 mi) / veer left on Oak Springs Road (there should be a white sign with a yellow star and TSSR on the star) (Watch your speed, stay in your lane. It gets very tight and there's a lot of drivers who fly around the blind corners) / Follow Oak Springs Road, following the TSSR signs at each intersection / Turn on Joes Way, again following the TSSR sign / Joes way will eventually come to a fork in the road. The fastest way is to veer to the right, but the road just loops around to itself, so you can't really mess it up. Joes Way will lead you right to the range - can't miss it. This trip is Honda Civic friendly. Motorcycles not recommended due to loose gravel on one small section.

    Rules:
    No Tannerite/.50/.338/Steel Core
Safety will be observed at ALL times. This means hearing protection and safety glasses on the line, chambers open on the bench, guns pointed downrange at all times, no handling weapons during ceasefire, if anyone calls a ceasefire you will lay down your weapon until the ceasefire is cleared. ANYBODY CAN CALL A CEASEFIRE.

    Amenities:

-There is an area for people to camp. It's normally the Archery area, but if we have people call ahead of time, James and Rick are willing to make it available for campers.

-Pizza is not normally delivered to this range. However, the managers brother is the manager at Dominoes and can make a delivery happen for the group. Get with the manager (James) of TSSR for details.

-The berm is at NRA standards. It's wide/strong enough to drive a bulldozer on top of and it's 20 ft tall. You'll notice the dirt behind the targets is different from the main berm itself. The dirt behind the targets is rock free to help prevent ricochets. Also, they are constantly maintaining the berm so we should have zero issues with it.

-TSSR is insured and has a document stating so at the front desk.

-TSSR has a general first aid kit on-site as well as a bullet wound kit. On top of that, the owner and manager are both formally trained in treating bullet wounds. As an absolute worst case scenario, there is an area designated for a medical airlift and the range has a number directly for the local airlift.

-There is a classroom that we have reserved for lunch. It does get tight when trying to fit everyone in, but is perfect for setting up the food/drinks.

    -They have two restrooms.

-They can reserve up to two bays at a time if we are having a competition, but only for the duration of the competition. All of their staff are NRA certified range safeties, but if we have any of our own who could help with the competitions, that would be a big help. Please speak up if you're NRA certified and willing to help out.

-Steel targets are onsite, and we are allowed to bring our own. If we bring our own, then they need to be completely up against the berm.

-There is an archery area so feel free to bring out your crossbows. Maybe have a crossbow competition???

-The skeet area uses a variable range thrower. You won't know where the clay is going until it's already out. Think you're good?? Step on up!

    -Full auto is allowed

-The range accepts cash or plastic. There are snacks, ammo, targets, and holsters for sale in the main lobby.

-There will be a raffle, a pot luck lunch, and more!

-I need volunteers to lead the raffle and any competitions. Just start the thread for whichever one you can help out with and you're it!

    Cost for all this goodness:
$10 - TGT Discount. Normal fee is $15. Please let the front desk know you're with TGT to receive discount.

-There IS a pretty good gunsmith onsite. Feel free to stop in and have a chat with him, or if you have anything you'd like him to check out while you are there, feel free to bring it out.

We already have a thread going with general chatter, so lets keep it over there. If you have questions pertaining to rules, or how to get there then go ahead and send it. Otherwise, lets keep this one for people checking in. If you're coming, please let me know along with any visitors you plan on hauling in. The more people, the better!

Note: I can't go in and edit posts since I'm not a Mod. Unless a mod would like to step up and maintain the attendance list, I will probably be updating it once a week via new post in this thread.
