I like a close cousin of Spam . John Taylor Pork Roll. or as we call it Taylor Ham I get it on a Six from the Deli at Kroger or HEB. It is expensive dowh here though. Fry it up crisp It is round so it makes great Egg sandwiches on english Muffin since there are no true hard rolls to be found around here.

When I started out as an apprentice meat cutter Taylor Pork Roll was very common. I aint seen or heard of it in many years. My guess the Boars Head guy is who brings it in to Kroger & HEB.

Hard rolls rock! My guess is we are in the wrong part of Texas for them to be popular. When Bolillos over took baguettes you sure not going to find hard rolls!

After returning from WWII Europe, my late Dad always refused to do two things:

    1) Stand in any "waiting line"

    2) Eat SPAM

My dad refused to eat lamb. I tried to convince him lamb & mutton are 2 different things. He also wouldn't touch wine of any kind! I can only imagine the hangovers he got ending WWII in France.
