    Yeah, I don't have any M855A1...

Most people aren't sporting Level IV or even Level III. Level IIIA seems most common, but that is changing, I'm sure. Means stepping up from 5.56....

I'm still thinking M855 for penetrating walls, even though it gives up some velocity on armor.

if its level 4 that's a big move up. It stops quite a few calibers including black tipped 30-06

Level 3s defeating 556 is dependent on velocity. The RATING is anyways. It gets sketchy when they are shooting 18 or 20 inch barrels. But how many do that.

Getting shot at with an AR is a "less than ideal" situation to find yourself in to begin with.

I used to shoot exclusively Hornady 55 gr SP. Its accurate, but after a few pigs and coons, it seems to not hold together, and makes a shallow wound without exit. I bought some PPU 55 gr SP. We'll see how that goes.

For home defense? Well I have two ARs & 2 AKs and yet for home defense, I prefer this pictured ammo for most such altercations but I'll shoot whatever is at hand if need be and am none to particular if an AR is loaded with M193 or M855 or whatever else. As I said though, this is my preference:

I’m gonna stick with 000 buck, less mess to clean when done. Slug is just going to blow shit everywhere. No AR for home defense for me.

    Tyler "suburbs"... :)
My AR preference would be nickel-plate cased 223 Remington 55 gr FTX Critical Defense, but I have yet to find any at LGSs.

I REALLY think my go-to might be my 5.7 PS-90, and FN 40gr Hornady V-max ammo with default mag-size of 50rd, as there would be no reloading involved, although I have a 12 gauge w/#4 Buck, then 00-Buck, then lastly a slug tucked away near the front door.
