I like the idea and would try and make the time to bring down a few of my toys to participate.
You might check with local FFL’s down there as well as maybe Silencer shop being a local Texas company. Might even see about a few other major suppressor distributors in surrounding states.
This was posted in a prominent nfa Facebook group but thought I would share.
Hi all - I'm an attorney here in Texas and, like many of you, called Sean Cody a friend. I'm posting tonight with information concerning his services, and also with information for anyone who made have had a FFL / NFA transfer in process with Sean. This information is being posted with permission of the family, and at the request of my colleague & friend of the Cody family, Robert Berleth, who is directly assisting Sean's wife Jennifer. The family continues to ask for privacy and will reach out as needed.
As you may already know, Sean died in a single-vehicle accident near Victoria, Texas on 11/22/2019 at approximately 3:00 p.m. The cause of death does not seem to be trauma; it is my understanding that evidence appears to point to a heart attack being the cause of Sean's vehicle leaving the road. His wife and children have support at home from immediate family members and their church. The family asks that all donations be made to the Apache Warrior Foundation - www.apachewarriorfoundation.com
Update / correction re: location of services:
Services for Sean will be held at the Pentecostal Church of Atascocita, located at 3448 Atascocita Rd, Humble, TX 77396 on Monday, December 2, 2019. Visitation from 5 to 7 pm. Funeral will start at 7:00 PM. There will not be a graveside service.
There is a large inventory of firearms and NFA items; please note, at this time there will be no auction or selling of firearms; please do not ask until the family is ready to receive those requests. That said, some of those items are owed to others. If you have an item that was in his custody, please contact Robert Berleth directly at rberleth@berlethlaw.com with the firearm make, model, and complete serial number, and Robert / the estate will work to get it to you as soon as possible.
Otherwise, I would respectfully request that you refrain from contacting Robert unless you are 1) a client of Sean's with a current / ongoing legal matter, 2) owed NFA trust documentation, 3) owed a firearm, or 4) otherwise had ongoing / unfinished business with Sean that requires attention. This message is being posted to several groups with thousands of collective members; in the interest of efficiency and out of respect for Robert's time (he is working pro bono), it would be very helpful if we don’t overwhelm Robert’s inbox with non-essential communication.
Sean Cody was a great man, and this is a horribly tragic event. He was a lawyer, a husband, a father, a mentor, and a fierce advocate for the 2nd Amendment and the passion for shooting sports shared by all in this group. With Thanksgiving just a few days away, please send up some good thoughts for Sean’s wife Jennifer and their sons. It may be cliché to say this, but please remember tomorrow is not promised – don’t pass up an opportunity to let your loved ones know how much you love them. I hope every one of you has a safe and happy Thanksgiving.
Sad to hear this. I saw quite a few people using his trusts. In fact, if there was a lawyer drafted trust I saw, it was probably his.
I had a customer coming in to buy a silencer a couple of days ago and said "...and us losing Sean Cody...". I didn't react but I started thinking, "that's an odd way to say that" and assumed his fate...or he got out of the business. Later I looked it up.
While I never knew him personally, it's still weird. Feeling like losing a distant family member who you don't really see and aren't really close to, but somehow still connected to. Different than reading about a total stranger in the paper (do we still have "papers"?). Definitely makes you realize how temporary life is.
I wanted to, but I got stuck in Louisiana for work.
I would still like to get the "final send" range day going. I've got Silencer Review Channel interested, he just wants some more details, date, location, people etc. Would be good to get a headcount...
Heck, like this post if you'd be interested in the event. I'm thinking sometime in Jan or early Feb.
