    At the risk of being one of the crotchety old men complaining about everything, the best lever action 22s are sitting in the used section of your LGS. Yes, you're going to pay more. Steel and workmanship cost money. The only current run lever 22lr I'd consider would be a Browning BL-22. YMMV.

    Like @Hoji said, a Ruger built 39A would be nice but probably unprofitable.

    I am a sucker for well made levers. This looks like an evolution of the Ithaca Model 49R (completely different from the single-shot Model 49). The pictures on the Savage website do not show much detail.
    If the receiver is aluminum, then durability of the finsh is a concern for me.

    For the price point it shouldn't really matter when compared to higher cost offerings.
    It's price points are set.
    Everyone has been doing aluminum receivers for shotguns for many decades now and they hold up fine.
