S&W revolver timing issue

I have a S&W K frame .357 The cylinder timing is off......it is shaving lead pretty bad.......I quit using it years ago and put it away. I am wanting to get it fixed so that I can use it again. Is this something best left to a professional? Maybe I should send it back to S&W? Or is it possible to get good results from a local gunsmith?

Had the same issue an older model 36. Wish I knew who to bring it to for fixing st the time

I'd give S&W customer service a call. Or start with an Email or online chat. Is it a model 19?

Its probably a worn extractor star. The ratchet lugs on them can get worn after long use.
S&W may repair it if the gun isn't too old. If I remember correctly they will not service guns made prior to mid-1970's.
Best to contact them directly and ask.
There are some good S&W repair guys out there but be prepared for long turn around times.
Bowen and Cylinder&Slide are good but require shipping.
You might try contacting Ed Vandenburg down in Webster. He's good but I'm not sure if he does revolver work.

Yes, It is a model 19-3. Not sure of the age........full serial number is 7K81xxx
I can't find a S&W serial number look up online.......
