S&W M&P AR15 Sport 2 cal 5.56/223

Anyone have one of these? I would like to hear some pros and conns from real people. The only problem I've heard is the handguard is polymer and gets hot after a while.
Thanks for any info you can give me because I have been offered one in a trade deal, never been fired.

I bought one in 2009 or 10, but don't remember ever firing it.

I took one in as a partial payment for a used car. There was nothing wrong with it, it was just an AR. The guy loved it and bought it back from me.

Bought two 10-12 years ago One never fired and no complaints on the other after maybe 400 rounds.

Its a basic ar. Nothing really wrong with it if you are looking for a spare, or want something basic.

Barrel twist is 1/9", thats really the only problem with it

I’m a bigger fan of the original M&P Sport (however both are good “entry level” ARs).
Both versions are made with polymer furniture.

I believe the “it’s too hot after shooting” comments are made by people who haven’t done any manual labor.

got one a couple of years ago, was keyholing out of the box. sent it back to s&w and they returned it with a new upper within two weeks, no problems after that. Not the best first impression, but the customer service was really good.
