I think Ruger spent a ton of money resurrecting the Marlin line and they probably need to sell a bunch of lever guns to recoup that expense. Considering how everything has gone up in price I don’t know if their MSRP is out of range. I like lever guns, especially my JM Marlins.

I don’t know that ruger was the company to bring marlin back from the dead. Somethings you just let die. Nothing wrong with letting Henry take the lever action market.

Spent all that time, money, and hype just to release a 30-30 and 45-70.

I think gun manufacturers are missing a ton of opportunities…like keltec needing to produce a sub2000 in 10mm.

Ruger needs to bring back some old guns. Bring back the 44 mag Deerfield. Bring back the security six.

If prices are going to be high then give people quality.

Normally Ruger firearms sell for around 70% of MSRP.

That would put the street around $870, but we won't see that price till things settle down.

I know lots of people want Ruger to bring back the 39A. But how many of those people are actually willing to lay down ~$900 for one.

Lever guns have never been inexpensive to produce.

The last Marlin produced guns was back in 2007 and I think a lot of people are still remembering the prices at that time.

Suggested retail for the 1895 SBL is $1479 but they are consistently selling for over that.

Ruger is being smart and not flooding the market with them. Let them trickle out and sell, instead of flooding the market and having them sit around.

There are some 6 million 336's out there. When it comes to the 336, Ruger isn't fighting Henry or Winchester, they are fighting Marlin.

Very few people are going to drop $1200 on a 336 when you can still often find older marlins in pawn shops for 600-800 bucks, and could very well be more desirable due to not having a safety.

    It's a different story for the 1894 and 1895

Well, back about 20 years ago, probably about when you were born, a guy COULD walk into any pawnshop in town and find a selection of Marlin leverguns for that price.
Believe it or not, 20 years ago is not all that long ago.
Times change, things become "desirable" all of a sudden, and something that's actually worth around $200 is going for close to a thousand.
All the guys that didn't want one when they were cheap, now just have to have one...FOMO.

Guess that makes me one of those old geezers you laugh at....

What makes you one of those boomers we laugh at is the fact that you post in response to someone with absolutely zero foundation to make a comment.

You should read more and get a clue about the longer term members you are making snide comments at them

well, I'm not gonna prolong a pissing contest, but just because you've been on here a long time doesn't give you the go-ahead to ridicule a whole generation of shooters, who have likely forgotten more than you'll ever know about guns and pricing, etc...
I mean, you certainly can DO it, but not without some response....

If that gets your knickers in a twist..... jimmy crack corn....

and my response was certainly not "bait"..... it was simply what it was... a response to a derogatory post.

    I'm not taking the bait.........

Being young doesn't mean I'm stupid.........
but reading comprehension might not be your strong point.... nobody said you were stupid.
You're probably very intelligent... a little inconsiderate, perhaps, but most of the time that goes away with the passing of time.

Look, you made fun of geezers, one responded. That's called a conversation. I'm ok with that, and I hope you are, as well.
