Well, was about to order a RRA upper until I foound out there is up to a 90 wait for one to be available to ship.

Am now considering a Bear Creek upper as they have some in stock. As a brand, are they any good? I like the fact the upper, in which I am interested, has a 1:8 twist rate.

In addition, some info about an M-LOK rail as opposed to a Picatinny rail would be appreciated. Will they accept the same accessories or does each require accessories (like sights) that are compatible with that specific type of rail?

Searching for available uppers at this point in time is a bit trying.

M-Lok accepts m1913 rail sections as an accessory.

Benefit of an M-Lok is lighter weight...you’re not adding material for a quad rail that goes unused, and believe me, most of that space goes unused.

SOCOM moved to M-Lok rails years ago.

Rock River makes great stuff. I have an AR, and their two-stage trigger is awesome. I took the Swat entry model upper off and use it with my long range upper, because that trigger is so good.

Brownells has some colt uppers in stock. Probably double a PSA upper though.

PSA has a CHF upper in stock, just as good premium brands.

Well the barrel is anyway. But that's beside the point for what Glenn is asking.
How is the rest different? Same forging, same spec BCG or better, proper QC and assembly. Hell even the basic programming packet for the upper machining is from colt, as most all are origionally. Half price of the uppers brownells is selling or pre ordering.

I would pay extra for colt or FN but for the quality and the price and availability ...I thought that's the exercise.

I disagree strongly. But we've been through this before so I'm not going to rehash it again.

Unless someone wants to be, it's not easy to be picky in this market. Glenn has his budget set so I think PSA is just fine within that budget. It's not BCA or Radical Firearms so I think he's good to go.

Frank Fritz of American Pickers was right on when he said: "The time to buy it is when you see it". I put this into my cart maybe ten minutes ago. Had all my info, including card #, typed into the order page and was about to hit enter when I was interrupted by the maintenance crew who had been working on my leaky window. Got distracted for maybe 5 minutes. Went back to ordering and you know it - "Out Of Stock". Damn - missed it by that much!

I have a couple of the PSA uppers I bought to put on a lower I built for my kids. They work fine.

I think Rock River is def better quality-wise, but PSA is fine.

Two others I have ordered from and was very happy with their uppers are Bear Creek Arsenal and Combat Armory. Both are high quality and functioned flawlessly.

I have an SOG AR-15 I bought from a friend that I've been shooting a while. It works well but is by no means a modern machine. My next step is to build a new gun myself with a floating barrel and some of the modern accouterments. This thread has been somewhat useful, especially in pointing out LaRue as a source. I've kind of got my eyes on the FDE Aero uppers & lowers and a bunch of BCM gear, but waiting on things to get back in stock is becoming ... taxing. I'm not good with patience.
