Know anyone that does revolver engraving by hand? I have a guy in Houston that is trying to sell me on machine engraving and I’m nervous. I think Turnbull does hand engraving, but would like recommendations from the crew here.

That's a dying art. Machine engraving is cheaper and easier to turn out but looks like a machine did it.

Hand engraving is definitely worth it.

Be very careful choosing an engraver when commissioning engraving work to be done....

You want references to actually talk to, actually see the quality of their work before you agree to have the work done.....

It is expensive and can take enough time that you could have had a tax stamp back sooner...........

Once the work is done, you either like it or it's off to small claims court......

Good engravers are in high demand and have long waiting lists.........

It may or may not add value to firearm, depending on the gun, who did the work, quality of work and amount of coverage.....

Before commissioning a major work of art with all the money that involves, I'd invest in a long weekend in Las Vegas where I would pore over everything on the tables at the FEGA convention. At minimum, you can use their website to find and contact engravers near you.
