So I picked up an older Model 11 recently with the hopes of SBS'ing it. I would like to keep the original barrel as is and pick up a second to chop down. Any recommendations on where to look for a secondary barrel? I checked GB and EB, but wanted to see if there's a more reliable source.

    Thanks for your help!

You do realize that the Model 11 is an inertia recoil operated shotgun. Depending on how short a barrel you are wanting, it may or may not operate very well.

There used to be a couple people that sold used barrels in the Shotgun News magazine/newspaper.

Man I haven't heard that name in forever. Didn't even cross my mind. Didn't even realize they still had that. I'll have to investigate further. Thanks for the heads up!

Hmm with as many Model 11 SBS' as I've seen, I hadn't heard that. Honestly I'm not well versed in shotguns, but something to consider. It won't be ridiculously short, just enough for that Bonnie and Clyde nostalgia.

    Thanks again!

    Browning long recoil system.
Timing will be an issue with a short barrel because you will have lightened it.
Also it may beat itself to death.
It’s been done but I think it is a job for a gunsmith.

Wasn't asking about that, but thanks for the info. If you know of barrel sources, that'd be great!

I have several Model 11s and some Browning Auto 5s.

    THEY ARE NOT INTERCHANGEABLE!!!

The Rems are standard SAE and the Brownings are METRIC.

Stay with Rems when looking for parts.

    Just a 'heads-up'.

Keep your eyes on gunbroker. Sellers like Phoenix distributors sell “parts kits” that are basically a few pieces of the receiver and everything else. I’ve seen a few rem 11’s cross over about every other month.
I don’t know about exact interchange, but, savage had an 11, a-5 variant as well. The 720 if I recall.
