I never thought I would do this but I'm gonna try a red dot on my new gun.
I think I want the smallest bestest thing going for $200 or less just incase I decide against it. Very probable!

I second the Holosun, I use the 508t and the 407k. Try the primary arms series for under $200, and watch videos from Aaron Cowan for instruction. Clear the iron sight process from your head, raise the pistol and focus on the target. It does take a little tweaking but it becomes natural pretty quickly.

I recently came to the same conclusion that a red dot might be better for my ageing eyes. So I bought an optic ready Shield Plus and wanted the Holosun 407K. Unfortunately, it would not work on the Shield and I had to return it. I ended going with the Vortex Defender-CCW. I shot it today and so far I have been happy with it.

You may want to look into a red dot that features the ACSS Vulcan reticle. Centered, you can't see the outer ring. Not centered, your brain automatically corrects depending on what part of the circle you see. They're a little more cash but help smooth out the learning curve/hurdle. On sale they can be had for $275ish.
