i've had deer do the little heart shot "jump" then watched as he jumped a barb wire fence and run maybe 100 yds before face planting into the dirt. have always heard, dunno if true, that if the deer had a lung fulla air when heart hit he can run till lung empties.

Apparently stuff only falls when shot on tv or in the movies. 50 ft is only 16 yards. You can stumble that far with no blood flow.

True, but depending on the environment, 50 feet could be as good as 50 yards or 500 yards for concealing a mortally wounded deer on the run.

In open terrain, no problem. In thick woods, could be a major problem.

Dude, post up a video of your most recent hog blasting. You do good stuff.

I used to take lung entry shots towards the heart but my GF got mad at me for ruining the hearts a few years ago so now I try to double lung them. I only shoot one or two a year so we try to eat every bit of them. She usually makes Bulgogi from the hearts and it's tasty stuff. The double lung shots have always spared the most meat so now it's standard practice for me.
