Help me understand. I wouldn't fire this except in a generally worthless 1911 but I don't think it will make the gun explode. I'm no expert on bad rounds. I figured you reloaded could help.

Assume these are not overcharged, just defective brass. The chamber is in spec. I think you get an underpowered load or a squib from this. How does it build up more pressure than normal and explode the chamber?

Give me all them worthless 1911's...

As to the post...I honestly think it's BS. I have a hard time believing a box with THAT many visually bad rounds would leave any factory. It's funny we see the reposts - but none of 'em link back to the original one. The guy that posted this one seems to spend his day reposting everything he sees...with no attribution.

Remington bottle necked cases have always had a history of the necks cracking. I've had a lot of virgin Remington 223, 25-06, 308, and 30-06 cases that the necks cracked on the first firing over the years.
I no longer buy Remington brass.

I'm going to ask a real question but it might sound dumb.

Does the ammo still function in the gun fine or is it too dangerous to use?

It shoots fine, the velocities will be down, but it won't blow up a gun.
IMO, It's an annealing issue. I anneal all of the virgin Remington brass that I still have before I load it, and I haven't had much of a neck cracking issue since.

I bought a bunch of new Lake City 5.56 brass several years ago with 2009-2010 head stamps. It's the same way. If I don't anneal it before I load it, the necks will crack on the first firing.

So, sounds like bullet runout could cause a pressure spike and blow something up? Depending on design of bolt & whether or not there is a magazine & what kind of magazine?

It just seems more likely that this defect is going to lower pressures. Maybe you get a squib. Only a problem if you fire again w/ the first bullet still in your barrel.
