So i am thinking of getting a new truck, i'm looking at the 2004.5-2009 f150's 4x4 and 2007 and up chevy 1500 2wds so i kinda curious as to what yall would choose or have chosen. Also why you have chosen it.
It sucks though because i have a tight budget of only 12k

Good luck, I've been looking around a little bit. And for under 12k you're talking 200k miles. I can't believe how expensive they are.

Ford with 5.4. Worst problems with them are ignition coils that fail, and it's a real PITA to change the spark plugs without breaking them.

I have a nice F250 sitting in my driveway with 130k miles on it and a blown 5.4 motor... And that's blown in a bad way not a supercharger :banghead:

Keep your eye on Craigslist also. Good deals pop up from time to time there.

I would get a Ford. They make the best all around truck IMO.

I drive an 06 Silverado with the 4.8...it's a dog.
gets me to and from places, but I think Ford is better in almost every way.

I've driven both on and off over the years. Also, don't discount Toyotas. I drove a 96 Tacoma 150k very rough miles. I wrung that 3.4 V6 for every horse it could make, every day. It never let me down, but by the time the clutch starting to wear out, the center bearing on the drive shaft got loose, and it needed a valve job, I traded it for the Silvie.

And for that you can thank "cash for clunkers". Yes by doing this our beloved Mr. Obama created a shortage of used vehicles. Just another way to keep the poor in check.
